It turned out to be a tough weekend for the Fairbury Lady Jeffs softball team, as the squad lost two of three games at the eight-team Seward Invite.
By going 1-2 in their three games, the Lady Jeffs finished sixth in the invite won by (7-0) York.
Fairbury began play in the invite facing off against undefeated York and fell 14-0 in three innings.
The Lady Jeffs offense produced only two singles by Marah Shumard and Caitlen Nimmich in the game.
“We knew we were going to have to play unbelievably well for York is that good and sound. However, we didn’t play that well so it ended up being even worse. We committed too many errors, which allowed them to score more runs than they really earned,”replied Lady Jeffs coach Taylor Biehl.
With the loss, Fairbury dropped down into the loser’s bracket and squared off against Centennial.
The Lady Jeffs came out victorious, 9-4.
