County/State Weigh Bridge Options

Larry Legg, Project Engineer for the Nebraska Department of Highways and Bill Hansel, Jefferson County Highway Superintendent discussed the design and construction of a damaged bridge on Farmstead Avenue at the Commissioners Meeting, Tuesday.
According to Legg, the Nebraska Department of Highways has been looking for alternatives for the design on the bridge. Their hopeful estimate would be around $400,000 for construction and they are debating on how wide the bridge should be.
“We’re looking to build either a 14 feet or 20 feet wide structure but it will need to be large enough for farm equipment,” Legg said. “The area is very tight for construction and we have limited funds for construction.”
