Fischer Announces Local Office Hours For Staff in Thayer and Jefferson Counties
U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) announced today that her staff will be holding local office hours in Thayer and Jefferson counties on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. These office hours serve as a convenient opportunity for constituents to meet personally with Senator Fischer’s staff to receive help with casework and other issues at the federal level.
Sarah Skinner, Senator Fischer’s constituent services and outreach representative, will be holding local office hours at the time and location below:

Gary Lee Barton, 77, of Haddam, KS, was killed Sunday, April 17, 2016 in a car accident.
Gary was born on Jan. 9, 1939, in Granbury, Texas.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy Minogue of Haddam, KS; a son, Kevin Farley and wife Mardiy of Glennville, GA; Brother Porter Barton and wife Bobbie of Pahrump, NV; granddaughters Brandi Ragsdale and fiancé Marc Selewski of Haddam, KS; AshLee Springer and husband Adam of Marion, IN; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other friends and family members.
There will be no viewing, but a private family service will be held at a later date.

Kimberly A. Hasbrouck-Bors 42 of Fairbury passed away April 17, 2016 at JCHC in Fairbury. She was born August 8, 1973 in Lincoln. Survivors are Mother: Shirley Hasbrouck of Fairbury, Husband: Kevin Bors of Fairbury, Son: Jaden Pflum of David City, Sister: Connie (Frank) Durst of Morrowville, KS., Brothers: Randy (Gena) Hasbrouck of Lincoln, Rick Graham of Fairbury, Nephews: Nick (Caitlin) Durst, Landon and Emory of Ames, Iowa, Niece: Lauri (Zach) Douglas and Brinley of Burlington, KS.
Services will be at 11a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Ken Hart officiating. The family will greet friends Thursday April 21 at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at the Morrowville Cemetery-Morrowville, KS. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury are in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor Kenning age 93 formerly of Steele City, Nebraska passed away April 15, 2016. She was born March 15, 1923 at Diller,
Survivors include her son Robert Kenning and wife Dorothy of Hay Springs, Nebraska, daughter Karen Bergmeier and husband Daryl of Plymouth, granddaughters Tammy Midgett and husband Josh of Lincoln, Becky Kruse and husband Bryan of Bremen, Kansas, 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Steele City. Burial following at the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials are to the Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home of Fairbury in charge of arrangements.

Brenda L. Kerns, 53 of Hebron, NE, passed away April 14, 2016 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She was born March 9th 1963 in Fairbury.
Survivors are husband Steve Kerns of Hebron, NE, daughters Abbigail Kerns & Bill Johnson of Lincoln, Hannah Kerns of Hebron, grandsons Ian and Ethan Kerns, father Richard Zimmerman of Fairbury, brothers Steve and wife Judy Zimmerman of Fairbury, Randy and wife Jackie Zimmerman of Lincoln, sister Denise and husband Bruce Wasserman of Fairbury, mother-in-law Lois Kerns of Iola, KS, brothers-in-law Michael Kerns of Crete, NE, Patrick Kerns of Belleville, KS, and Thomas Kerns of Concordia, KS. Sister-in-law Nancy Meadows of Iola, KS.

Loretta (Adam) Stohs, age 83 of Odell, passed away on Tuesday, April 12 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. She was born November 20, 1932 in Odell.
Survivors include husband, Wilbur of Beatrice, sons, Ken (Tammy) of Olathe, KS, Duane (Bobbi) of Beatrice, Gary (Karen) of Odell, Darrell (Janie) of Omah, and Les (Dawn) of Ankeny, IA, grandchildren, Preston (Abbey), Micaela, Tyler, Tara, Quincey (Laci), Crystal (Robin), Teanna, Shade, DaileeJo, Adam (Stacey), Kyle, Ethan, Emily, Hannah, and Abbey, great grandchildren, Addisyn and Kaisen, sisters-in-law, Velora Adam and Verona Stohs, aunt Sophia Fuchs, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Playing on back-to-back days Fairbury’s varsity golf squad faced miserable weather conditions at the nine-team Seward Invitational held on the Seward Country Club golf course on the first day of April.
As a team, Fairbury finished sixth turning in a team score of 352.
Seward won its own invite carding a score of 321 with Lincoln Christian runner-up tallying a score of 322.
Junior Justin Peterson paved the way for the Jeffs earning the lone individual medal placing 14th overall with an 18-hole score of 84.
Senior Nick Christiansen just missed out on a medal placing 16th shooting a score of 86.
Rounding out the scores for Fairbury were Robby Meyer with a 90, Zach Reikofski finished with a score of 92, and Blake Bauer posted a score of 102.

Taking part in its season opening track and field meet, Fairbury's junior high girls finished third, while the boys turned in a fifth-place finish at last Tuesday's Thayer Central Junior High Invite held on Thayer Central High track in Hebron.
The junior Lady Jeffs placed in 14 out of 15 events to rack up 78 points.
Thayer Central won its own seven-team invite with a score of 102 points.
Mikwena Lierman had the top individual finish placing second in the high jump clearing 4'6”.
Ellie Ohlde finished in a three-way tie for second in the pole vault with a vault of 6'6”.
Third place finishers were Izze Schwab, discus, 70'9”, and she had a put of 28' 1/2” in the shot put, Jaelle Johnson, high jump, 4'4”, and Lierman with a time of 2:42.7 in the 800-meter run.
