Members of the Personnel Committee for the City of Fairbury left Tuesday's council meeting nothing short of disgruntled.
"I don't even see why we have a committee in the first place if they (the council) aren't going to follow our recommendations," committee member Glen Tedrow said.
At issue was a recommendation the committee made to allow city employee George Keilwitz to transfer from being a utility lineman to a plant maintenance employee at the power plant, a job which Keilwitz had applied for.
Fourth Ward councilman Doug Brown spearheaded the comment against Keilwitz getting the job.
"We're already short a First Class lineman, so why would we allow this move to take place,?" he asked.
City line foreman Jim Morehead said he was not opposed to Keilwitz getting the power plant job, adding, "He will be right next door to our department. If I needed him for something I could still go and get him."
