Caregiving for Those With Alzheimer’s Highly Stressful

Caregiving for a loved one can be a stressful situation.  Caregiving for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia is one of the highest stress situations according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
There are 10 major symptoms of stress that the Alzheimer’s Association cautions caregivers to be aware of and take steps to manage the stress.
One of the first stress symptoms is denial of the effect of the disease on the person.  Thoughts like “I know Mom is going to get better” is a good example.  There is also anger.  Anger that there is no cure or anger at the person with the disease who doesn't understand what is happening or simply is repeating a familiar phrase or activity over and over.
