Showing why they were the top seed, Fairbury polished off Milford and Wilber-Clatonia enroute to winning the C1-4 Subdistrict Girls Basketball Tournament played at Friend High School.
With four players scoring in double figures, Fairbury blew open a tied game at half on its way to a 56-38 win last Thursday evening over Wilber-Clatonia in the C1-4 Subdistrict final.
Spearheaded by the 1-2 scoring attack of the Lady Jeffs’ Shelby Pollman scoring eight points, and Josey Zabokrtsky sinking four points, the Lady Jeffs opened a 14-8 first quarter lead.
Wilber-Clatonia took advantage of foul trouble by Fairbury in the second quarter to forge a 21-all tie at halftime by outscoring the Lady Jeffs, 13-7.
At the start of the third quarter, Fairbury’s offense heated up connecting on three straight three-point hoops, and preceded to not let up outscoring the Lady Wolverines, 20-5 to seize a 41-26 advantage.
