Heat can cause many problems for the people living through it. Cars become ovens and sickness falls upon anyone who spends to much time outside.
There have been eight reported fatalities across the United States, in 2015, due to children being left or getting stuck in vehicle's on hot day's.
Simera Reynolds, Community Health Services Coordinator at Public Health Solutions in Crete stated, cars can heat up quickly, it only takes 10 minutes for a car to heat up an extra 20 degrees.
“We have to be mindful that on an 80 degree day a car can get up to 100 degrees or more in a short period of time,” Reynolds said.
Creating reminders, by putting a purse or phone in the backseat with a child, is a way to remember that a child is in the backseat, this is crucial if someone is not following their usual routine.
