Neal W. “Fritz” Frederick

Neal W. “Fritz” Frederick, 92 of Fairbury, NE, died March 29, 2015 in Fairbury. He was born July 6, 1922 to Andrew & Hazel (Arndt) Frederick in Beatrice, NE.
Survivors are son Fred and cousins.
Services will be Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in Fairbury with Darlene Novotny officiating. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice. Burial will be in Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Karlene Elaine Harris Brueggemann

Karlene Elaine Harris Brueggemann age 60 of Fairbury died March 31, 2015. Karlene was born second oldest to Larry Harris and Barbara Bigley Harris, on February 21, 1955 at Auburn, NE.  Karlene received her education at Auburn Public Schools.  She graduated with the “Betty Crocker Home Maker of Tomorrow” Award in 1972

Delbert Yost

Delbert Dean Yost was born on May 30th, 1929 Northwest of Plymouth, NE.  He was born to George & Emma (Schachenmeyer) Yost. Del passed away- March 26th 2015 in Lincoln, at the age of 85 years.  Delbert was baptized & confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Plymouth, NE.  Delbert attended school district 76 and district 43 parochial school and graduated in May of 1946 from Plymouth High School.  He then moved to York, and worked 2 years on his Uncle Art Schachenmeyer’s farm, where he drove a grain and stock truck.  He came back to Plymouth and worked for farmers around home.  In 1950 he went to work for Norris Public Power District in Beatrice.  In 1951 he was drafted to the army for the Korean War.  He took 8 weeks of basic training and 10 weeks auto mechanic training before being deployed overseas to Japan, where he instructed Japanese and Philippino soldiers with an instructor translating words to him.

Michael A. Mangels,

Michael A. Mangels, 44 of Fairbury, NE died March 28, 2015 in Fairbury.  He was born October 21, 1970 at Long Branch, NJ.
 Survivors are wife Sheri Risher, of Fairbury,  sisters Kathy Mangels of Fairbury, Julie (Andrew) Johnson of New York, brother Fred (Joanne) Mangels of VA, niece Nicole (Jason) Sorensen of TX, nephews Tommy (Hannah) Taylor of Fairbury, Brian (Ashley) Taylor of Fairbury, Grandchildren Brage, Ayla and Jobe.
Services are Saturday April 4, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Fairbury Cemetery with Memorials going to the Wounded Warriors Project in Lieu of flowers.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  gerdesmeyer@diodecom.net.

Gary Lee Johnson

Gary  Johnson
Gary Lee Johnson, 74, of Daykin, passed away at his home, Monday, March 23, 2015.
 He was the second child born to Rex and Catherine (Schoenholz) Johnson February 2, 1941, in Nampa, Idaho. He and his family moved back to Nebraska in 1945.
 Gary attended country school in Alexandria and Bruning and then went to Bruning High School, graduating with the class of 1958.  In high school, he participated in football, basketball, track, and class play and his favorite class was shop.
 On June 3, 1960, he married Patsy Morris and to this union three sons were born—Dennis, Bradley, and Patrick.  Then, on August 26, 1977, he married Rachel Drees where together they had two daughters, Kelly and Holly.

Robert D. Grammer, 77 of Endicott, NE, died at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln.  He was born August 6, 1937 to Charles Aldo and Helen (Werner) Grammer in Fairbury.
 Survivors are wife Colleen, daughters Julie (Bill) Siefers of Plainville, KS, Lana Rempel of Endicott, 5 Grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren, brothers Leroy (Bonnie) Grammer of Omaha, Terry (Joleen) Grammer of Fairbury, Gail (Mary Ann) Grammer of Council Bluffs, IA, George (Robyn) Grammer of LaVista, NE, sisters Georgine Hoffman of San Antonio, TX, Carol (David) Horner of Weston, NE, Karen (Bill) Horner of Ceresco, NE.

Janet McGrane

Janet L. McGrane, 58, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
Janet was employed with the Department of Homeland Security as an Immigration Officer.   Janet’s favorite hobby was her grandkids.   She enjoyed spending her time with them.    She enjoyed traveling with the only limit being how many vacation days she had from work.  She loved playing cards and helping her son-in-law at his store.  She enjoyed the company of several longtime friends. Janet attended Zion Lutheran church in Harbine, NE.  She attended Zion parochial school and graduated from Tri County High School in 1974.  She was baptized on 5-13-56 & confirmed on 3-22-70.

Guila Vinkenberg

Guila Vinkenberg, 89 of Fairbury, passed away at Gardenside Long Term Care in Fairbury, March 27, 2015.  She was born December 19, 1925 at Fairbury, NE.
She is survived by her sisters Donna Ward and husband Robert of Yakima, WA and Barbara Jones of Hays, KS.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating.  Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.  Family will greet friends on Tuesday, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Lester R. Boyd, 91 of Fairbury, NE, died March 24, 2015 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. He was born May 25, 1923 at Reynolds, Nebraska. 
Survivors are brothers Otis Boyd of Hebron, Alfred Boyd of Chesapeake, VA, sister Irene Baloun of York, 3 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
 Services will be Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home Chapel with Darlene Novotny officiating.  Burial will be in Rose Creek Cemetery at Reynolds, NE.  Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are Daughter: Kim Arner & Husband Terry of Fairbury, 3 Grandsons, 6 Great Grandchildren, Sisters: Phyllis Watson of Fairbury, Shirley Jansky & Husband Robert of Lincoln, Brother: Gary Littrell . Memorial
