Commercial sewing has returned to Fairbury.
MSA Brand Products, located in Fairbury, has added handcrafted United States flags and a line of sewn camo items, including grill covers, seat protectors, hunting blinds, coolers and bags, to its inventory. The items, which can be customized and personalized with either screen printing or embroidery, are made at the McBattas plant on Fairbury's northeast edge. The building was once the home of Swingsters, which employed hundreds of people before it closed more than a decade ago.
“We saw a niche [market] and decided to run with it,” said Trevor Gill, who is the marketing and sales representative for MSA Brand Products, the sewing division for McBattas.
“We saw opportunities for future growth and job opportunities. We decided to bring back an industry that we saw a need for by bringing back custom and commercial sewing.”
