Rallying For The Death Penalty

Pro Capital Punishment--Bob Short believes having the death penalty in Nebraska is so important that he is attending area events, celebrations in hopes of getting enough people to sign a petition to get the measure on the ballot. (Photo by Fred Arnold/Fairbury Journal-News)
by Shaun Friedrichsen

Robert Short of Fairbury has declared war upon the status quo.
He has taken it upon himself to challenge the repeal of the death penalty in Nebraska by gathering signatures on a petition, which, if there are enough people who sign, will put the issue on the ballot.
Short has been active with this issue since the death penalty was repealed in May. He explained that he was in contact with Nebraska State Senator Laura Ebke before the vote occurred. After the vote, he was more than disappointed by the outcome.
“I'm mad,” said Short. “Since the Senators up in Lincoln voted against the will of the people, I started looking for an outlet.”
