Elvis Is In The House

On July 22, Lincoln native Joseph Hall performed his one-man show in tribute to Elvis at the Fairbury VFW to a packed house. Hall was a finalist on America’s Got Talent and regularly performs in Branson, Mo., and around the world. He is recognized as one of the top Elvis tribute performers on the planet. James O. Lugenbeel

James O. Lugenbeel, 85 of Fairbury, passed away July 20, 2016, at Heritage Care Center,  Fairbury. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Nina Lugenbeel.
He is survived by his wife, Nina, daughters, Donna and husband Richard Stansberry, Sheri Zoch, Lori and husband Jim Carey, and son, James and wife Sharon Lugenbeel.  Step Daughters, Sheryl and husband Gilbert Beadle, Rene’ Scheer and Dave Summers, Step Sons, Kelly and wife Sandie Davis, Chris and wife Katie Davis, and John and wife Tammi Davis.  32 Grandchildren, 64 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great-Children.
Services were, July 26, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, Fairbury, with Pastor Randy Novotny officiating. Burial in the Fairbury Cemetery with full military rites. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Mary M. Ward

Mary M. Ward, 63 of Reynolds, NE passed away June 24, 2016 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln.   

Survivors are husband John Ward of Fairbury, children Dennis Corbin, Rob Corbin and Reva Ward, sister Esther McAdam, brothers Jim and Will Corbin, grandchildren Ethan & Ashton Corbin and Dante Ward. 

 Her Memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Novotny officiating.

Road Construction to begin around Aug. 1

The City of Fairbury plans to remove and replace road pavement in two areas on the north side of town. Work on Industrial Drive from 27th to 24th streets and on the northeast corner of Industrial Drive and 32nd Street will begin on or about Aug. 1, city officials have said. The construction is expected to last a couple of months but will be done in phases to allow traffic to continue to pass through those areas.
