Free Food Available For Seniors

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) distribution clinic will be held in Fairbury at 512 3rd Street on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. An appointment is CSFP provides nutritious foods to seniors who are age 60 or greater who live in Nebraska and are under the program income guidelines. To schedule an appointment or obtain information on how to qualify for CSFP, please call Blue Valley Community Action at 402-729-2278.

A Prenatal Childbirth Education class at Jefferson Community Health Center for all expectant parents. The class will meet on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a fee, pre-registration is required. Fairbury Parent-Teacher Conferences Oct. 2

First Semester Parent-Teacher Conferences for Grades 7-12 will be held in the Fairbury Jr-Sr High School classrooms on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Assistant coaches will be available at 5:30 p.m. and the head coaches will be available at 6:00 p.m.  If at all possible, please limit discussions to five minutes and focus on academics.

Lady Griffins Win Axtell, Kan. Tournament

It was a fun day south of the border for the Diller-Odell Lady Griffins volleyball team on Saturday.
The Lady Griffins went undefeated (5-0) to win the Axtell, Kan. Tournament.
Starting out in pool play Saturday morning, Diller-Odell came out with a 3-0 record.
In their first pool play match, the Lady Griffins topped Falls City Sacred Heart in straight sets, 25-19, 25-20.
Katie Zarybnicky led Diller-Odell with 13 points scored on 15-16 serving with three aces.
Madison Hajek and Madison Jurgens paced all Lady Griffin attackers with six kills each.
Josie Vitosh dealt out 14 set assists on 37-39 setting.
Diller-Odell turned around and faced Blue Valley-Randolph in its second pool play match.
The Lady Griffins were victorious by scores of 25-17, 25-17.
Katie Schultis paced Diller-Odell in points scored with 11.
