Not one, but two car shows were held on Sept. 19-20. The first was held as a cruise night and open house for Schmidt Machine and Third Street Body and Glass on Sept. 19 (above). The second was held on Sept. 20 at the Fairbury City Museum (top) with a plethora of vintage cars, food and music on display for people to enjoy. Taking control, that’s what Diller-Odell did in the second half of Friday’s homecoming game versus Mead played at Diller.
The Griffins dominated the second half outscoring Mead, 22-0 to earn a come-from-behind, 34-16 win.
Despite two first half rushing touchdowns by senior running back Bladen Ahl, Diller-Odell trailed Mead, 16-12 at halftime.
Diller-Odell’s rushing game took over in the second half with Ahl scoring the lone touchdown of the third quarter off a six-yard run. Christian McCown ran in the two-point conversion giving the Griffins a 20-16 lead.
Sparked by a pair of fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns the Griffins put the game out of reach.
Ahl scored his fourth rushing touchdown on a 12-yard run followed up by a successful two-point conversion run from McCown.
Tybor Smith capped off Diller-Odell’s scoring with a six-yard run later in the quarter.
