Tri County Ffa Wins 
Parlia-Pro Contest
Twenty-one members of the Tri County FFA Chapter competed in four team events and five speaking events at the District 5 Leadership Development Events on January 17th.  The competition for the 15 District schools was held at the Holthus Convention Center in York.  All the contests were state qualifying for the Nebraska FFA Convention April 4-6.
The Tri County Senior Parliamentary Procedure team of Tiffany Pearson, Ethan Paxton, Alexis Gerritse, Taylor Cammack, Madison Freese and Kailey Weichel won the district championship.  Pearson chaired the team.  They earned a purple ribbon, plaque and will compete at state.  The Ag Demonstration team of Pete Spilker, Sophia Linnemann and Chad Niemeier finished in 4th place and received a purple ribbon.  Their topic was on “Small Engine Maintenance”.
Creighton Niemeyer, Alexx Malchow, Hannah Holtmeier and Evan Larson finished with a blue ribbon in Ag Demonstration.  Their topic was on “Pig Management”.  In the Conduct of Meeting contest, the 9th grade parliamentary procedure team of Lucas Weise, Drew Garrison, Cole Siems, Nicole Vodraska,  Logan Larson, Ella Crawford and Kynlee Uher finished with a blue ribbon.  Siems was the team chairman.
In the individual speaking contests, Alexis Gerritse placed second in Cooperative Speaking and earned a trip to state.  She earned a purple ribbon.  Two members placed 3rd in their contests and are alternates to state.  Tiffany Pearson competed in Extemporaneous Speaking and Ella Crawford in Junior Public Speaking.  Ella spoke on Celiac Disease.
Junior Taylor Cammack was awarded a blue ribbon in Extemp Speaking and 7th grader Carter Holtmeier brought home a blue ribbon in Ag Literacy Speaking.  His topic was on “Swine Ear Notching”.
