    Seward 35 Fairbury 30
    The Fairbury girls basketball team dropped their third consecutive game on Tuesday in an away matchup with Class B third-ranked Seward. Both squads found themselves in a defensive scrap with the score being 18-13 in the Bluejays favor heading into halftime. The Jeffs closed the gap to six points (31-25) with 2:22 left in the game but were unable to get closer. Seward’s 35-points was the lowest point total the Bluejays accumulated in a victory this season.

    From rejoicing a first-round victory to being heartbroken by criteria that decided a tied dual in the semifinals, the Thayer Central wrestling team experienced a roller coaster of emotions on Saturday at the state wrestling duals at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney.

    A spotless 10-0 record helped the Thayer Central Titans earn the No. 2 seed in the Class D State Duals held this coming Saturday in Kearney. 
    Thayer Central will square off against 7th seed Elwood beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Wolverines earned the final spot in Class C (the eighth seed) with a 17-4 dual record and will face top seeded Broken Bow beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

    Thayer Central senior Damian Stewart tallied the 100th win of his wrestling career with the Titans on Saturday at the Aquinas Invite. The senior 132-pounder defeated Pierce’s Mason Sedlacek in the first round of the tournament by fall to claim his 100th win.
