Regardless of the rain, Wednesday’s MUDECAS contest gave the Griffins a well-deserved silver lining.  Freeman High School hosted the day long, 32 team tournament that consisted of 7 rounds of pool play and culminated in a double-elimination tournament. Diller-Odell brought two teams and each team finished pool play with a winning record. The A team went 6-1 and the B team went 4-3. The eight tournament teams were determined by win-loss record and total points scored in pool play. With 560 points, the A team landed in the #4 slot.  In the first tournament match, they lost to HTRS B. From the consolation bracket, they fought back by beating JCC A and Bruning-Davenport A, which set them up for a rematch with HTRS B. The Griffins avenged their loss and advanced to the semi-final round against Freeman A.  They defeated Freeman and moved into the championship match against HTRS-A. Diller-Odell finished the day as runners-up after 12 mentally challenging matches that totaled 300 questions. A team members included Paige Arnold, Adam Schultis, Spencer Schmidt, and Stephanie Rosales. B team members included Joslyn Edmond, Tyler Rash, Faith Novotny, Melina Kostal, and Connor Klecan.
